§ 1.461. MUNICIPAL BOARD OF ABSENTEE BALLOT CANVASSERS . (Cr. Ord. #04-18)

  • Pursuant to §§ 7.53(2m) and 7.52, Wis. Stats., the Village Board of the Village of Germantown hereby creates a Municipal Board of Absentee Ballot Canvassers and authorizes the centralized counting of absentee ballots on election days as follows:

    A.

    The Municipal Board of Absentee Ballot Canvassers shall be composed of the Village Clerk, or a qualified elector of the Village designated by the Clerk, and 2 other qualified electors of the municipality appointed by the Clerk for a term of 2 years commencing on January 1 of each odd-numbered year. The Clerk may appoint additional inspectors under § 7.30(2)(a), Wis. Stats., to assist the absentee ballot Board of Canvassers in canvassing absentee ballots under this section.

    B.

    The Village of Germantown declares that, in lieu of canvassing absentee ballots at polling places under § 6.88, Wis. Stats., the Municipal Board of Absentee Ballot Canvassers shall canvass all absentee ballots at all elections held in the municipality.

    C.

    The Clerk shall give at least 48 hours' notice of any meeting of the Municipal Board of Absentee Ballot Canvassers under this section.

    D.

    The Clerk shall not later than the closing hour of the polls post at the Clerk's Office and on the internet site announced by the Clerk before the poll opens a statement of the number of absentee ballots that the Clerk has mailed or transmitted to electors and that have been returned by the closing hour on election day. The Clerk shall also make such statement available to any person requesting the same.
